I'm from Chicago so most of the colleges around here prefer the ACT so our school hasn't really said anything about the SAT to us. I'm thinking about going to school somewhere else, and I know a lot of schools require applicants to take at least two SAT subject tests. Does it matter at all which two or do I just choose two that I'd do the best in?

Just try to take them in different subjects. For example, avoid taking both U.S. and World History. And yes, choose your best two subjects

I second Harry Potter on this one. Worst of all would be a combo like Math I and Math II (do those even count as two?!?!). I have a friend who took Biology E/M, Math II, and Physics. If he were applying to an engineering major or MIT, maybe that may be acceptable. But many liberal arts colleges especially would find it appalling that you were only confident in such a small academic range.

You should do your research. Some colleges require a particular SAT II, while others will just say you need to take X number of tests. Many are 0, others are 1 or 2, and top tier generally asks for 3. Some majors, like engineering, will have math/science test requirements.

Unlike the SAT I or ACT which is supposed to show your probable "potential" to learn something, the SAT IIs measure something you have already learned. Take subjects you feel most confident in already, or those you wouldn't mind studying/reviewing for. If you really hate a subject, don't torture yourself with that unless you don't have a choice.

Perhaps you should post what classes you are taking, since most correspond well with an SAT II. (i.e. AP Chem -> SAT II Chem, Pre-calc -> SAT II Math II, etc.)

Good luck!
(also being rather verbose in my answer, since it seems your school gives you very little if any info on the Collegeboard family of tests)

Yes! Math 2 and World history i heard have generous curvess

thanks guys. I'll take math II for sure because I took AP Calc last year so I'm pretty confident in math. For the literature test does it have questions pertaining to specific books? At our school at least it's our senior english class that focuses the most on literature so I don't want to take that subject test and not have read books that are on it.

The Literature test is a general test of your analyzing skills of literature. There isn't a specific novel/poem to analyze, but they choose from a random list.

Its similar to the critical reading section of the SAT I, but the subject lit test focuses on more difficult text.
