What sucks about stern?

Self-explanatory...I just want to know what current/past undergrad students in Stern hated about it.

Thanks

We hate weenies like you asking what we didn't like.

the curve.....it makes you compete with the other classmates, its not just you against the test. having a low 90 average that becomes a B+ sucks (doesnt happen too often but probably happens once or twice to everyone at some point). also the deans are dumb.

too many azns. lol jk, but they do make the curve as harsh as described above^

I once got a B+ with 95.36 something.

Do all the different schools at NYU curve as stated above?

hey katsy, does the situation you described still exist in Stern or has all that changed with the introduction of the new grading policy.

Flexibility in Stern Curve is more fair - Opinion

according to that article and Stern's website, between 23-35% of students can be awarded As. So will it be as bad for students in the class of 2012?

No, Stern is the only school that grades like that.

My least favorite part about Stern is the jerks who attend. Girls don't think you're cute when you ask them if they enjoy boners when you dance with them.

Wow that's terrible. I hope you stomped on their foot and walked off to find better company.

It was actually the result of the new policy. Our class was structured so that everyone had like a 98% up until the final. The final was supposed to spread out the grading, but obviously it didn't do enough, and 96% ended up as the cutoff for an A- (yes, minus!). I had no idea that it would come down to every single point ever given out like that.

I'm pretty sure I just got unlucky and it was just that one class. The professor was actually really nice and explained that he was already being generous with the curve.

Katsy, what class was that in? I'll have to watch out for it...

so far i have had three classes like that. for one of them a 96 was the cutoff and for the other two a 93 was the cutoff.

^and keep in mind the 96 and 93 were for A-, not an A. a 97 and 96, respectively, were needed to get an actual A.

you know what's awesome about stern - free tickets to the u.s open! dammit, I will so disguise myself as a stern student and show up.
