Hey all,

I'm starting CC officially this fall, and I want to apply out as a sophomore to some schools (mainly USC and NYU), and I wanted to take a class or two over the summer to get a few more credits since I will be a sophomore transfer most likely.

Which general requirement classes do you suggest is the smartest to take over the summer?

Thank You!

If there’s a category you don’t have that you can do in an accelerated course, then do that. This means (probably) no foreign language, or a class that requires an incredible amount of writing. If you’re particularly bad at something and don’t feel up to doing it in an accelerated way (for me, it’s science and/or math. I just NEED more time for things like that), then pick classes that will transfer and not kill your GPA.

Mahina, are you suggesting to take easier classes over the summer because they’re accelerated? Because I’m in a similiar situation as the topic creator, and my thinking was that with all the time on my hands I should take classes that would need more time since I’d have more time in the summer for them. Not trying to question you, honest inquiry!

And how much credit do we need going into CC usually to try a sophomore transfer?

Matark, I was thinking the exact same thing… not so sure of what to do…
Usually the magic number for sophomore transfers is to have completed 30 units by the end of the year
