What Summer College Class(es) Should I Take?

Hi, I’m a rising junior, and I plan to be a science major (most likely biology or some other variant).

I have the opportunity to take classes at a local community college. As a high school student, I’m limited to two classes for the summer session, and I know I can only focus on one “hard science” course and still receive a good grade. My peers are doing the same, just one class.

However, I really want to take Art History 3 (contemporary art) just for the sake of learning and connecting the dots between AP Art History (which I took in sophomore year), the current era, and Academic Decathlon. The professor is also a really fascinating guy who has curated for museums around the world, and he only teaches this one class.

My question is, should I only take the science course (human biology, with an average class grade of C-), or should I take them both?

I feel fully prepared, just will it look odd on my application? If I’m going into science, will having an art history class on my transcript be a red flag for a college admissions officer? I plan on shooting for the Ivies, so I’m definitely concerned. I don’t want to appear too spread apart, I just really want to fulfill my passion for connecting different fields of learning together. I also plan on taking environmental biology in the fall/winter semester, if that helps at all.

Thank you for reading the long post and for future replies.

Of course not! If anything, there aren’t enough students who care about the humanities and learning for its own sake.

Thank you so much for your input!
I’m just curious, though - from the point of view of an Ivy college admissions officer, would it be alright?
