What system/process does Hopkins have for admitting students?

I know that the UC system, for example, uses a point system like your app is reviewed by at least two individual readers and points are given for the specific factors, both academic and personal to create a total Comprehensive Review score etc etc..
Where does JHU place the most emphasis on for the application? Essays or test scores?

Just curious. I applied ED and I'm frankly dying in anticipation. 13 more days!

Hopkins is holistic - meaning that a team of counselors get together to discuss your application and come to a consensus.

Most if not all selective private schools use this method.

Thanks al6200

I suggest you read the blog by AdmissionsDaniel, one of the admissions officers, and specifically read [this post](http://blogs.hopkins-interactive.com/blog/2006/01/three-months-of-transcripts-recommendations-and-strained-vision/) that talks about how they review applications. The post is from 2006 and some things have changed since then (all applications are reviewed on the computer instead of in paper files, for example) but the general gist of the article still applies.
