What Test Scores Needed for Large Merit Scholarships from Selective Colleges

@thinmints She had an alumni interview here in Chicago which she really enjoyed. That was it. No visit to the school in advance of applying/acceptance, she didn’t even meet with the Admissions outreach rep who came to her high school. I’ve heard they did early writes in the past, but they didn’t do them this year. Is your son happy with his decision to attend Grinnell?

@ChicagoMom62 – my son also had an alumni interview (in 2014) which went very well and he is extremely introverted so I was a bit nervous. He has been very happy at Grinnell. He really likes the open curriculum and has
dabbled in classes that I don’t think he would have taken elsewhere (due to the core requirements at many institutions).

Depending on where you live and possibly scheduling issues, Grinnell also uses regional admissions reps for interviews.

For merit scholarships, Grinnell and other schools have priority application dates. So even if your kid isn’t planning to apply anywhere ED, it will behoove you to push him to get his application ready early (good idea regardless).
