Out of curiosity, how good at physics do you think you are?
If you take PHYS 2218 in the fall as a first-year, you will probably be the only freshman in the class. I think only 3-4 people have done it in the last 4 years. Only a few of the best even try this, especially considering PHYS 1116 is a very worthwhile course.

If you do end up going through with it, it might help that waves is the easiest of the 3 classes in the honors intro physics sequence, but that’s not saying much.

Hi guys, I’m pretty much in the same predicament as Ishida52134 when it comes to choosing between PHYS 2217 and PHYS 2218. I am intending to major in AEP and I think I have a pretty solid understanding of EM, but it seems that AEP recommends taking PHYS 2217 instead of placing out of 2213 and going straight to PHYS 2218.

So, does anyone have any idea on the syllabus of PHYS 2217? More specifically, are there any course websites for PHYS 2217 that I can use to see if I should skip/take it?

For PHYS 2217, I think we had a blackboard site that I no longer have access to.
However, MIT offers a very similar course that covers virtually the same material using the same two textbooks (Purcell + Griffiths).
You can find the course notes to that class here: [Electricity & Magnetism](Electricity & Magnetism)

Now I really understand what people mean when they say CC is a “love it or hate it” type of thing. This thread and the FB page are like polar opposites.
