What textbooks for World, US and European?

I know this question has been asked and discussed countless times before. However, I am not finding a concise, recent answer.

For AP World, I have the AP version of Encounters and Traditions. I plan on buying Barron and I do not have anything for US History and European History in terms of textbooks.

For US History prep books, I have AMSCO and I am getting the Crash Course book. I will probably get Barrons for the practice exams.

What textbooks should I get for European/US? Any advice on prep books?

I am self-studying these courses, but I have a pretty solid background in history. It has always been an easy subject for me because my father constantly discussed history.

AMSCO for US or/and REA Crash Course.

I had Duiker for AP world and American Journey (Prentice Hall) for AP US. I used Barrons for AP World and I got a 4 on the exam. However, I didn’t read the majority of the prep book…

European History: Princeton Review. CC. You can also download the 5Steps book for free
WH: Barron’s.

In terms of textbooks, literally any textbook on the college board site is fine. They’re on there for a reason. I just always buy the cheapest one or the one I can pull online.

This isn’t really a textbook, but a good review book for AP Euro is Modern European History by Viault. It was published in like 1990 though, so it doesn’t have all of the information (I think the AP exam covers up to 2001) :confused: That shouldn’t be a problem though, because you will need more review books, and they’ll cover that stuff :slight_smile: As the person above me stated, Princeton Review and ESPECIALLY Crash Course are the best review books.

Here is College Board’s list of AP Euro textbooks: <a href=“AP European History Course Audit – AP Central | College Board”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

And here is College Board’s list of AP US History textbooks: <a href=“AP United States History Course Audit – AP Central | College Board”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

Hope this helped! I will be self-studying AP Euro next year, and AP World some other time. Or maybe at the same time, I’m not sure yet. Good luck with self-studying! :D
