Hi, I'm planning on self-studying some AP's, and though I see multiple threads on the best prep books to get, I see none or very little about textbooks.

What textbooks should I get for the following AP exams?:

World History
European History
Physics C
Computer Science A

Thank you for all your help!

Traditions and Encounters for World History (absolutely recommend it!!)
-It reads like a story and is very helpful for the exam. Supplement it with a prep book to thoroughly cover everything since no textbook will cover everything on the exam.

Physics C… Well I had a thread about it and if you read it, I wasn’t that sure either. But I’m using University Physics by Young and Freedmen.

Ok, thanks! Is there any specific place you buy your text books/prep books in order to save money? I still have to find out about the others though…

Half.com is highly recommended

Wow, those prices are amazing… I didn’t know about that website, thanks man :). But still!! Anyone know about EH and Computer Science? :(

Actually, I recommend BookFinder for getting the best prices on books.

I’m self-studying AP Comp Sci (as well as Physics C) too!
I think any decent introduction to Java (supplemented with Barron’s prep book) should work. From Amazon reviews, it looks like Head First Java is the most recommended one for beginners; I’ll be using that book as well.

World History: The Earth and Its People: A Global History (i would recommend Traditions and Encounters, too)
European History: A History of Western Society by Mckay.

Try Ways of the World: A Brief Global History by Robert Strayer for APWH.

My class used the Blue Pelican textbook (virtual textbook on the computer), used barrons comp sci A, latest edition (i believe 5th), got a 5 =)

For Physics C use Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday,Resnick, Walker or Physics for Scientists and Engineers by Tipler, Mosca. Personally used the latter, but sometimes i would skim through the Halliday book.

Good Luck! :D
