what the heck just happened?

I feel like I skipped forward in time. This semester is almost over...

thank god I want this year to be over soooo badly. I’m a senior in high school and I cannot wait to get to college and finally relax.

lol. Because going to college where classes are supposed to be even more challenging then high school will be relaxing… Even if your classes are easier, for most people college is more stressful than high school, simply because a lot more relies on one or two grades, whereas in high school, if you screwed up on a test, you could still come out with an A.

Anyways… Yeah. This semester totally flew by. I can’t believe I only have five days of classes left.

I want to transfer to whatever college you are planning on going to if thats the case…

I can’t believe it’s almost over too! What I can’t believe more is that I’m a junior. When did I grow up? Why do I still feel like I should be 16? Hahaha. College growing up woes. Time goes by way too fast.

You’re in for a shock.

Life went from “when I graduate from college I can do anything!” to “holy crap, I’m graduating from college soon, what the hell am I going to do?!”

College is stressful and exhausting! I’ll be glad for a break, but winter break always seems to last too long. In a way that’s good though, because by the time spring semester finally begins I’m bored out of my mind enough to look forward to college again, lol.

College is stressful, but I actually find it a lot less stressful than high school, especially academically.

That said, this semester definitely flew by. I can’t believe I’m already about 1/8th of the way through my college career. Not cool.

To everyone that said I’m in for a shock- LOL.

I go to a top 10 public school in the entire nation. I’m in 8 AP classes this semester including multivariable calculus and physics c. I have over 6 hours of homework per night. I’m going to a state school next year.

JD I was in the exact same boat you were in. I took 11 AP test and went to my state flagship school. Gonna be honest bro, the AP test were nice, but that only means you’ll be taking harder classes sooner. It’ll be tough but hang in there. At a state flagship school you may find classes academically boring, especially in light as an over achiever. Just a heads up.

@ jd989898

I was in a similar situation. Took 11 APs, didn’t have a social life because of homework, now I’m going to a UC. College is stressful, but not in the same way as high school. Just don’t be so high-and-mighty and assume that things’ll be easy once you get out. Because it won’t. Because you are already taking hard classes, it means you skip all the basic simple ones and go directly to the harder ones. You may be able to handle the workload and learn the information just fine, but it’s the transition to college itself that’s the most difficult.

But anyhow, yeah, it’s surprising how quickly this quarter passed. I’m not going to be able to make it the four weeks of winter break.

One semester is done, and still no girlfriend

I hate my life :(

Where do these high schoolers go off thinking they know about ANYTHING?

Thanks for the laugh, jd.

Anywho, I only have two more weeks of school left. One week for classes. One week for finals. I’m going to pwn them. Just watch.

LOL to this statement. You haven’t even gotten to college yet. If you want to make this statement this time next year, fine. But seriously, the transition to college might come as a shock to you. I definitely know of some people who went to awesome high schools that were academically challenging, took lots of APs, etc and are having a really difficult time with the transition. Just because you can handle what high school throws at you does NOT mean you can handle what college throws at you. And it isn’t even just the academics. It’s the fact that you’re surrounded 24/7 by distractions and there aren’t really any immediate consequences if you don’t go to class. It’s a completely different environment, and although most can make the transition well, a lot don’t.

Less than a month until Christmas! Not even break… Wowzers. What happened?

jd, I was like you in high school. I was valedictorian at one of the best schools in Texas. I smugly signed up for engineering honors classes when I got to UT-Austin (which had and still has one of the top-ranked civil engineering programs in the country). My first exam grade, in honors physics, was a 45!!! There was a small curve, but not that much. I got a C for the semester!! I went on to graduate with a 3.8 GPA, but I’ll never forget my shock at that first class. I also got a C in an architectural design studio. So be careful about your attitude next year! Don’t be too prideful to ask for help, also.

hopefully i gonna be the valedictorian too:D
if not at least the salutatorian

lol Burgsoccer09, it’s okay, there’s plenty of time left. At least you aren’t in the situation where the girl you like (who likes you back) already has a boyfriend. That makes things a bit more difficult. ^_^

@jd989898 - Hopefully your smugness is in good faith. I went to a decent public school and was worried I would struggle immensely when I got to Rice. I was pleasantly surprised to find my classes first semester to be much easier than in high school. However, the transition to college life and every other aspect of life made things more stressful. Furthermore, I’ve heard many cases in which top notch students like you go to a state school and almost flunk out first semester because of the rough transition to college life and because of the harder courseloads being presented. Just be wary, you aren’t a college student yet so you can’t assume college will be easy.

my motivation in getting work done has completely tanked. I don’t know why

A lot of people are on jd989898’s case. I find I am doing a lot more work, but actually I am definitely less stressed than I was in high school. I guess I like being independent, living with friends, and etc which makes my life much nicer. It’s hard to compare the two stress wise, and JD may very well be in for a shock, but at the same time maybe not…

Anyway, yes. This semester has flown by far to fast. Where is life going?

I am so excited, because it’s only 11 days until my exam week starts, and 18 days till I get home! I have to sing in a concert that’s a day after exam week ends, but that’s a fun challenge.

But I have so much stuff to do this week. I have a 6-8 (probably gonna be more like 8) page paper due Friday, I have a short recital on Thursday, I’ve got stuff with my Greek org. this week and next. Once I get past this week, I’ll be golden.

In AP classes ( at least the ones I’ve taken) you have more than 3 grades in a semester.

It’s weird. I’m going to miss my college friends over break a lot. More than I miss my high school friends now.
