Like honestly...NEU was supposed to be a safe/match. People at my school who applied EA with lesser stats were admitted, we're a highly regarded school. Seriously...what happened?

They could've filled most of their class EA and gave the last seats to the strongest applicants of the RD pool. I got waitlisted for Fall 2007 but accepted for Spring 2008. I'm confused by what it means. Did you get just waitlisted or was it the case as mine?

Who knows!! I always think admissions are arbitrary. Sorry u got waitlisted. still waiting to hear here

maybe they figured they were your safety, but instead of rejecting you they waitlisted you to see if after another few months, you really want to go there?

I mean I've taken the most difficult courseload possible...and got a 3.67 and 3.55 the first two terms taking 3 APs and 1 Honors.

your arrogant attitude probably doesn't help your case. clearly you were overly confident about getting in and this should probably teach you a lesson.

ur schedule seems pretty week though, only a 3.6 weighted. although that might be the hardest classes you could take at your school.

How is that week? An honors class adds .5, and an AP 1.0. 4 APs is standard for honors student at most schools in my area.

4 Honors Frosh
5 Honors Soph
4 Honors 1 AP Junior
3 AP 1 Honors Senior

I just don't get this. I was already accepted into Bard College, a highly prestigious and selective LAC. Northeastern is still one of my top choices.

both of you:

it's "WEAK"

not "WEEK"

perhaps maybe there's your culprit?

I was quoting him...just to see if anyone noticed. I didn't want to start a flame war.

Did you get in?

I have similar stats with an even higher GPA...I too, was waitlisted. Doesn't upset me all that much though, 30,000 apps is a ton.

seriously people chill out youre on the internet. no one wants to read your arguments. just be nice.

A girl at my school withthe same GPA who is now ranked 1 below me (was 1 higher before) and worse test scores got an 11K scholarship EA. NEU must have accepted way too many EA.

Yea I agree I was hoping to get in but Northeastern, like a lot of other schools went up with their applications so it's not like anyone is a shoe-in anymore

do you guys think they'll use the waitlist?

Looking at some Princeton Review/US News/etc they seem to take people off the waitlist.

i read something saying that they took like 260 out of the 3000 kids off of the waitlist. how do they decide who gets off?

does anyone know this year's Early statistics? they're probably somewhere on the internet but i'm too lazy too look :P

What tatianaf said makes sense to me. I think NU should have deferred more people in the early pool. Although who gets in/who doesn't get in is unpredictable, I personally think you (Mlevine) should have gotten in--your stats are praiseworthy and what (i thought) NU looks for.

Aren't the waitlisted students ranked? I heard somewhere that you can call the admissions office and see how far up you are on the list.

NEU is probably a match for the students with that same stats that it was a safety for a few years ago. It does seem a bit random to me though. Perhaps they give more weight to the essay and other subjective criteria now?

One of my best friends got waitlisted, and I and another friend, both ranked lower, got in.

***(Who knew cc wouldn't let you type double u tee eff?). She should have gotten in if we did. I know it's not all rank, but there's NOTHING that we have that she doesn't.

I don't get it. I honestly think it's a mistake.

Do they go to the waitlist often?
