Look up the word intellect........you seem to not understand the meaning of the word.

I understand it, but the essay is just so broad. Not exactly sure what to write about.

I don't see the broad part to tell you the truth. Either you have an experience that is meaningful or you don't. Have you done any learning that really mattered to you?

write about the situation youre in now. How you didnt understand the question ;)

Isn't SUNY's RD deadline December 1st?

Think of something original and that you would enjoy reading.

Crono, here are some possibilities:
-1- A well-done movie that illuminated something previously obscure -- for example, a documentary or film biography that expanded on some facet of history or the arts. One example of that would be the recent Bob Dylan retrospective on PBS: he talks as a young man about societal expectations, creating music, etc. Very different from just listening to his music. Another example would be watching a live Shakespeare production, & the insights gained from that vs. reading the same play.
-2- A lecture, debate, or even political speech that you heard live or recorded. (Lecture does not have to be in school environment, of course.) Could also be an informal discussion with family, guests on some occasion, that provided insight or generated vigorous debate.
-3- Viewpoints seen on channels with European feeds; or read in overseas newspapers such as Times of London, etc.
-4- If you have reading fluency in another language -- A work read in the original (foreign) tongue, with newer insights gained vs. its English translation.

Those are some starters.
