I was under the pretty distinct impression that honors students got honors housing if they requested it. Now at the housing website it has all this information for Northwood III. WT F is Northwood III????

First, did I get the worst dorm on campus? And also, is there anything I can do about it now or am I completely stuck?

Northwood is married/graduate housing, though they recently switched one of them to undergrad housing. I've never heard of anyone being put out there, especially honors. For now, just make sure you don't sign/return your contract, and check with housing to make sure it's right. If it is, take at least a little bit of time to read about some stuff on northwood and make sure you want to switch. If you do, you'll want to do a contract reassignment.

Basically, people who sign up to return to university housing and decide they want to move off campus aren't allowed to cancel their contracts, they have to reassign it to a freshmen who doesn't have a signed contract (hence it being important that you don't sign it yet). On the right you'll see a link to a posting board for male contract reassignments. Right now there are two separate spots available in Couzens, and both people from a double in west quad want to reassign their contracts. All you do is e-mail them, make an agreement, and then sometime in late august you go to the housing office and finalize it.

I did this last year, and there were a large number of contracts available over the summer, it just took me a while to find a person with a double in south quad that hadn't already given theirs up.

Yeah, I'd send one to housing verifying that it's Northwood and not a mixup, and make sure you mention you're supposed to be in honors. If it is, and you decide to not return your contract, let them know. I'm not sure why...but they told me I should've done that when I did the contract switch. You probably won't hear back from them until sometime Monday or Tuesday. Until then, just make sure you don't want Northwood if it is for real, and then you're going to want to check the contract reassignment board every so often to see if anything's been added.

Ok....you all are talking about 2 different things...

Your room assignment (your actual room number and roomate) will not be available until august. However, you will be mailed your housing contracts in late May or June. Those will say what kind of room you have (double, triple etc.) and what dorm.

It says room assignment will not be available until August. But when I go to Wolverine Access-> My Housing> My Move-In, it has a link to "Northwood III move in" and says:

"University Housing is looking forward to welcoming you to Northwood III. We have been preparing to make Move-In a positive first step in your stay with us. Your apartment will be ready for you beginning August 1... Please log on to My Assignment for personalized information regarding your Northwood III apartment."

Proximity (to both classes and libraries) is by far my most important criteria in picking a dorm. How good/bad is Northwood III in this regard? Although I've found a map of Northwood itself, I can't find a map that shows it's relation to the rest of campus. A link would be ill.

P.S. I just re-checked mine and the Northwood III link appears at the lower left on the page. However, your room assignment is in the upper right. I don't think it means anything, but if you find out otherwise, please let us know.

yeah housing just replied to my email saying that they had no idea what I was talking about and that I hadn't even been placed yet lol. That's a relief.
