Why are doctors paid more annually as compared to engineers ?
why ?! why?!!!!
i mean even we guys have to study a lot just like these doctors and well as far as i feel there is hype all around like.... ooooo u are a doctor... wow u are a doctor wow! wow!

Doctors need a lot of schooling beyond a BS degree. Your first site surveyed ~85% of engineers with a BS degree. A few of them are high schoolers or MS.

... doctors save lives...engineers make stuff... frankly, most people would be more impressed by the former because doctors are mostly on the front lines while engineers work behind the scenes. plus doctors need to train much more than engineers with only a BS degree, so it shouldn't be surprising that doctors get paid more.

but well a MS degree holder i mean MS degree holder in some engineering field also like gets a payboost of 10K or 15 k max but pay is not the problem alone.. respect too is.. i mean ok wow doctors save life and all but well we engineers provide them with the tools which they work with or whatever but like u knw if one asks some1 his/her
and when one would say i am Dr. So and So.. immediately the asker shows him/her respect or well is impressed but i dont think it is with engineers
plus tell me frankly what is more good to listen ?

Dr. Smith or
Engg. Smith

i knw it is kiddish but just try to visualize it

hahahaha to be frank even i was scared of SaKKy hahahah as a matter of fact there was thing in the back of my mind telling me "hey there is sakky active in engineering threads so just take care" hahhahaah seriously that was what was goin in my mind

If a doctor saves your child, or your mother from death, are you going to show them the same gratitude as someone who builds a bridge? Of course not!

That's also why they earn more. And because their training is sooo much longer than that of an engineer.

ps. I see a miracle has occured. You have magically learned how to write English. You are almost there; resist the urge to leave your words unfinished.

How much you get paid is not determined by how much schooling you get. Otherwise, many actors, models, and athletes, would not be earning as much as they do. The amount you get paid has much more to do with economics than how long you went to school for.

I've really only noticed this... errr, doctor-worship?, among my South and East Asian friends. Either doctor, or lawyer. Which is why very many of my Indian/Asian friends want to become one or the other. Its really all very shallow.

Also, if you are so bothered by how much doctors make, then why not become one?

so carnelian and steevee u think that doctors savel life so thats why they are respected more ok let me put it this way we make those machines for "doctors" and plus we make bridges..we make roads,we make computers,we make dams,we make everything and it would be not in my part to say that we make doctors
so.... people should respect engineers more ....

Doctors go to school for many many years and they pay many thousands of dollars for it. Not only that but they lose out of so many years where they could be working a full time career. Doctors have a difficult job but involves long hours and very stressful situations.

Engineeers are very important to society but lets be honest, our schooling costs way less. We can begin working after 4 years of college making more money that most college graduates do. Not only that but engineering is a very comfortable job. It's a pretty low stress job compared to others.

Engineering is a respectful career. Not many people can call themselves an engineer and I think most people are impressed by it. Don't worry so much about the money.

Please note that in the United States anyone with the intellectual capacity and desire can become an engineer or even lawyer.

This is not true of medicine. Qualified applicants are turned away every year due to lack of space in medical schools. Then foreign doctors are allowed to immigrate to meet needs.
How fair is this to the qualified American students who couldn't get into medical school because of lack of space?

The AMA is the strongest union in the history of the world. What we call nurse practicioners or physicians assistants are doctors everywhere else.

In 1910, mechanical engineers made twice as much as physicians, who had much worse working conditions. Since then. doctors have been smart and engineers have been idiots with respect to restricting access to their profession.

There are forces and trends in society which may lead to doctors becoming de-professionalized as have pharmacists and engineers. If you work for a corporation in which you do not have a substantial equity stake, and do not offer services directly to patients/clients/customers, then you are not a professional.
