What the..? Not enough room on Stanford short answer!

I'm within the character (and word - 260) limit, yet I can't upload my essay. It's because it consists of a bunch of little paragraphs, and doesn't fit in the space provided vertically.. any suggestions? Should I separate paragraphs with "/" ?

1800 characters limit.

No no, it fits within the characters -- in fact, it says there are 400ish left! It's just because it includes a lot of paragraphs and that makes it need more space than is available. I'm confuzzled.

check your character limits, then try doing the paragraphs one at a time.
even though MSWord said I was under, I had to do one paragraph at a time to make it fit.

I swear to god it's within the limit. If you go print preview, you see that the space alloted is mostly horizontal -- not made for many paragraphs and breaks in the text.

Any suggestions as to what else I could do other than removing the breaks and indicating breaks in paragraphs with a "/" ?

Computers understand computers. They don't care what human thinks. Try this, select your whole essay and use Microsoft word count and see if it's under 1800 character limits. If not you need to reduce it.

Here's what I did even: I got rid of each paragraph, so it's just one block of text. That way, it fit -- even with extra space. *** this annoys me.. I follow their rules, but apparently I can't have (too many) paragraphs? grr...

Do you mind PM me your essay? I will try on this end to see if I have the same problem.

Ok, I understand. I copied the second paragraph in word, the word count states 1752, I copied and pasted to my supplement(testing account) and saved and it did not seem to complain at all. Not sure what problem you have. Maybe you need to clear that area first completely before you copy and paste. Just a suggestion.

each time you push enter is 2 characters. i don;t understand why it has to be this way -- i had to cut all the cool words out of my essay. :</p>

I meant not just the paragraph but the second essay.
Do everything in a word document and just copy and paste. It was not a problem for me. Perhaps the buffer was stuck and could not take in anymore. It problably needs to be completely cleared or zeroed out.

Ooooh, I just did it with that essay I posted, and it worked. Weird. Now trying with real essay! crosses fingers

WORKS! omg, i <3 you guys. mensluv.

Is the character limit with spaces or without it?

With space but use word count from Microsoft Word to give you an idea while you're writing your essay.

Dang!! I;m like 300 characters over in one essay
