I'm going up to visit State over Spring Break, but I wanted to ask some current students/people who live around State College if there's some places I should go visit while I'm there that I might not get shown to me. I'll only be there for a day, and hopefully I'll get to see a class in session or something, but is there somewhere off the beaten path that I should take some time to visit, either on campus or around it?

Do you have any idea what you will major in? There may be labs, for example, that would not be on a general tour but might be of interest to you. You might also be able to meet with a faculty member in a particular program or sit in on a class.

Im hoping meteorology or some sort of IT major

Check out the IT building and the new Life Sciences building. Spend some time in the HUB to get a feeling for what Penn Staters are like. Walk down College Ave, grab a coffee at Irvings and people watch, check out the crazy amount of Penn State gear at the Student Book Store and the Family Clothesline. Spend a moment at the Joe Paterno statue near Beaver Stadium and take a look at the Bryce Jordan Center. Get a photo at the Lion. Have ice cream at the Creamery.
