what time do you collegiates go to bed?

do you believe in the "eight hour" requirement to achieve success?

i'm trying to see if working until the wee hours of night is beneficial by getting work done but detrimental bc my classwork could be affected.

all of the smart people in my high school went to bed early.

EDIT do you also recommend naps? bc they skew your sleeping pattern...

I’m a believer of “sufficient sleep,” which usually, but not always, translates to eight hours. Everybody is different, but after enough sleep, there will be a level where additional sleep doesn’t help make you more aware.

I go to bed whenever I get tired or eight hours before I need to get up. Sometimes, this may translate to 5am, other times, it may be 11pm. Whole idea of going to bed early and getting up early, though, is that it’s compatible with your body’s biological clock auto-adjustment system.

“do you believe in the “eight hour” requirement to achieve success?”

8 is not necessary, but you’re not going to get by very well operating on 4 hours a sleep every night. You should definitely try to get 6 or 7 hours every night.

short naps are good. less than an hour, so you don’t feel too groggy and you don’t mess up your sleep schedule

I eat amphetamine to avoid sleep at all costs.

Napping for less than like an hour and a half totally screws me up. It takes me half an hour just to fall asleep, and then the alarm goes off and I can’t wake back up.

I have been going to bed between 3 and 4 because I am used to sleeping until 11, so now I am trying to adjust to more of a 1-2 to 8:30 schedule since I have 10am classes. I would have no problem falling asleep at 11pm but I don’t wind down until later. My most productive hours are 10pm-2am and it’s hard to stop in the middle of a burst of focus to go to bed.

Usually 4-6 am, but only because I have 9am classes. Once my schedule is more flexible and i have afternoon classes, I won’t be sleeping so early

Well, I’ve only had a few days of classes, so this might change. So far, though, I’ve gone to bed around 12 or 12:30 and woken up around 7 (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) or 8:00 (Tuesday and Thursday).

Whenever I finish my homework.

Sunday through Tuesday night I try to be in bed by 11 or so because I get up by 8 at the very latest (I have class at 7 sometimes, so I’m up at 6)…yay for being in nursing school! (?)

10-1 just depends on whats up/how badly ive procrastinated

For me, yes. I need 8 hours of sleep. I cannot function properly on less than that, and I know that. If I want to wake up at 9:00am, I’m in bed by midnight, so I know I can actually get 8 hours of sleep. An hour leeway is nice.

You shouldn’t have to make the decision between working late into the night and getting sleep. Just get your work done earlier in the day. This means not messing around on the internet or hanging out with friends in that time, but whatever. Plus, it’s satisfying going to bed knowing you got everything done at a reasonable hour and can spend your last awake hours of the day totally relaxing.

S’how I feel at least. I used to work like you did, but I prefer this way much more.

And no to naps. It’s a personal thing, probably, but they didn’t work for me. Made it harder to fall asleep at a nice hour.

i get a solid 6-7 hours of sleep just like HS

go to bed at 1 wake up 7:30 to get breakfast and book it to 8:30 class

6-7 hours is not enough for me. in high school when i went for a month are more without 8 hrs ever i got sick. its hard for me to get 8 hours because i have trouble going to sleep in general, especially if im goin to bed early enough to get 8 hours and get up at 7:30. i get 7+ hours most days except mon, wed, fri cause i have an 8:10 class

When I was in high school/eary college, if I got less than nine hours of sleep a night I threw up when I woke up in the morning. Last year it was 8 hours, and this year it appears to have gone to seven hours, which is nice since needing nine hours of sleep was pretty debilitating. I try to shoot for seven or eight hours, six minimum. Less than six and I really don’t function well.

It depends what classes I have the next day and what needs to get done. I am starting to get the hang of time managing so I personally average about 7-9 hours of sleep.

When I’m done with my work. Some day’s that will be around midnight, other days that will be at 5 am.

But I always nap during the day. I’ll take power naps between classes and stuff and I’ll get 8-9 hours on weekends.

i get 5 hours everyday

Wow well I don’t have half as much homework as most people on this thread, but I generally go to bed around 1ish on the weekdays and 2ish on weekends, maybe 2:30. I wake up whenever is needed for my schedule, something like 9-9:30ish. It’s nice because I can go out any night I want and have enough sleep to be functional the next day.
