What time does exeter email admission decisions?

That’s odd. I hope that this is just a small mistake and not EVERYONE who was accepted got emails today…otherwise I have been rejected/wait-listed. :frowning:

I wouldn’t say that.

Thanks for checking.

@soontobeprepmom: I sincerely hope not. I will continue to be hopeful and optimistic.

us too

I bet the email notification process is scheduled on an automated basis and someone entered Noon rather than Midnight.

LOL!

Are we waiting for an email or a post to LIONS link

@soontobeprepmom‌ I got an email.

thx

Even legacies are not notified early if they are admitted, only if they are denied or waitlisted.

This seems strange. Somebody should probably call to make sure it isn’t a Carnegie Mellon type mistake. It happens to one college every year, usually because they mean to do a dry run and end up clicking the wrong thing.

But I surely hope nobody gets a redaction.

If that were the case, then rejections would come out at this same time as well, right?

I think someone who got the email should call to verify

Yes, someone who received an acceptance should call the admissions office.

@heartburner‌
Not necessarily. I’m hoping for everyone’s sake that it was just a glitch and that released pre sorted decisions. If my child had gotten something like this, I would be on the phone immediately.

I do not have anyone applying to Exeter this year so it is easier for me to be objective.

I’m familiar with email distribution systems and it is entirely possible the distribution process was kicked off early by mistake. It takes these systems some time to send out thousands of emails. Systems may detect mail servers that send out high volumes of emails in a unit of time as a spam generator so the distributions systems can be slower than you would think. The folks at Exeter could have been alerted about acceptances going out and then stopped the process.

Everyone waiting on an Exeter decision just take a deep breath and be patient. I have had a child receive Exeter decisions before - one year he was waitlisted, the next admitted. Both times the emails came within 10 minutes or so of 6 AM. No matter what everyone will not receive them at the same time. Read nothing into this. Try to relax you are down to the final few hours.

Thanks for the advice! I am anxiously waiting for a decision.

I do remember hearing that two years ago the Exeter decisions came the morning of the 9th.

March 9 of what year?

  1. Two years ago.
