What to answer for what Dorm

Based on the housing form questions I'd say for donlon it'd be:

co-ed
double
yes to can you sleep AND study with BG noise
room social by nature
night owl
whichever to neat and clean

for dickson:
pick single or triple

for ct/mews:
give less of a partied impression, i.e.
cant sleep/work with BG noise
room is studious

balch:
girls put single sex hall

any other ideas, or disagreements? btw these are just my impressions from what i have heard, i havent yet visited the dorms.

As shizz mentioned earlier, for guys and low rises, put single-sex.

what should i put to get court or mews?

it says in the first post my guess...when we get current students like perro they'll be able to give us a better idea

I answered honestly, looks like I'll be put in Donlon, can't say I object :)

Housing is an extremely random process here. What you answer won't matter for what dorm they put you in or even who your roommate is. EX: On the form I said that I go to sleep late and wake up late and I have a roommate that is exactly the opposite of me. Don't worry about it too much; what you get is what you get. Also, all of the dorms will have cable access next yr (if u pay for it) so you can check that off your list if that was one of the reasons why you wanted to get in a particular place.

starmel...random questions but are u an athlete...if u answer yes ull see why im asking wehn i reply...and also what dorm hall are u in? and pls share with all of us what u answered to teh other questions to get in that dorm? thnks

Your placement can be affected if you are an recruited athlete especially in a team sport (ex. all the freshman basketball players are in court). I am not an athlete however and thats not a question on the housing app. Thats something that the coaches work out with the housing office (according to a couple of upperclass athletes I just asked). Intially I was placed in Mews but now I live in a program house. I think I answered something about not being a smoker along with the late sleeper thing. It doesn't matter though; people will tell u all kind of stories but housing is randomly generated here. There is literally one person who assigns people to freshman housing (I won't post her name) and what you check won't affect where you are placed. Its all about where they have space. Housing is sooo jam packed at Cornell that their number one priority is giving you a bed, not placing you according to your social tendencies.

can u put in a good word for me>? lol, court #1 choice..mews#2 lol, but seriously if u could that be awesome but i dont expect nething..seriously all the freshmen basketball players are in court?? thats awesome...especially since i nkow ONE sqauasher and one tennis guy in court too!! oohh things looking good as long as they dont change it....do u think that it means all squashers and tennis guys are in court too?? also, do u know of any otehr sports in any other halls?? this info is prob the best int the past 4 mnths since i got accepted ED! (does filling the online thing EARLY like say tomrw affect nething? they say its all random..just like to hear wut u say) THNKS SO MUCH

b b uu m mppppp

If you are an athlete you will probably end up in a townhouse, which is really nice. That said, it is more or less random. I mean, in theory, the answers given at the beginning of the thread seem right to me, but mel's right, odds are you are just going to end up somewhere.

townhouse?? NONONONONONONONONON def. DONT want town house!!!!!!!!!1 where'dy u get that crazy idea??? why will i end up there, cuz i put single or no?????????????????????????????????????????? wait isnt townhouse a question too? lol

I put down that I wanted a double, quiet environment, and that I go to sleep early.

I ended up getting a quad in Donlon.

Yup. Exactly what I wanted.

sarcasm norcalguy? lol :)

does each quad have its own bathroom?

To be fair I loved Donlon. I made lots of friends there and the quad/suites are A LOT nicer than the doubles (though there's only a few of them). The suite was basically two doubles connected by a common room that only the 4 four people share. The four of us basically moved our desks out into the common room which left a lot more space in the bedrooms. I live in a double now and it feels a lot more cramped.

That said, they didn't really read my paper when deciding where to assign me.

pjv80287: I wish.

i'm allergic to smoke and my first roommate was someone who did. but i ended loving the one that moved in with me second semester (because my first one ended up pledging and moving in w/her sor. sis)

living in donlon in the quads, doesn't living right outside of the bathrooms = stinky?! i remember having friends who lived in the quads too, and they said the smell from the bathroom smelled awful

Yea, it was close to the bathroom (no smell, thankfully). I look at it as not having to walk so much to go to the bathroom each time. And yes, the guys bathroom will get pretty gross at Donlon (random, wet bath tissue lying around on the floor, puke on Sat. mornings, toilets that won't flush, people who can't aim, someone even dumped a bag of tortilla chips on the floor-of course people chose to walk all over the chips instead of cleaning it up).
