Has anyone developed a list of good questions for high school students to ask college reps when they visit high schools? I assume that each rep is ready to sell their school, but what questions can kids ask to get real information, rather than a sales job?

read their websites and ask a directed question about a program or other piece of information. For instance, mention someone by name ( a professor, club director, a quote form the president) and ask something specific. It shoes you've done some research and it sells you at the same time by showing you are not just asking about generic stuff. Here is an example.."I noticed the president is a big supportrer of social service..can you tell me about some specific service opportunities I could be involved in if I attened XYZ?"

It really doesn't take but a minute to get some research to do this.

Great idea!

Always ask the negative questions. Be skeptical. "What are your least favorite things about XYZ?" Of course, don't be entirely negative, but at the same time, the answers to these questions are often the most illuminating. If they don't have one, then that should be a big red flag that something is wrong. Job interviews always ask for what your biggest weakness is, and a comparable question in this setting is applicable.

This is a good opportunity to ask about specific departments and majors. The rep may have an answer, or be willing to put you in contact with the right person on campus who can answer your question.

Of course, it helps to have to have done a bit of homework.
