What to be expected for financial aid

<p>How is NU financial aid? If income is roughly $60,000 and assets are less than $100,000, what could be expected? How much EFC, how much in loans, and how much in scholarships/grants?</p>

<p>make sure u put the 100k in the right asset column (parent or student). picj both im and fm efc rules; the bigger one is the one nu 'll use. the first link gives the avg dist. between grant and loans for fa pkgs -</p>

<p>I realize the College Board has an EFC calculator. That doesn’t answer…</p>

<p>1) How close is that EFC calculator usually to the NU EFC?</p>

<p>2) For my income/assets, typically how much of the non-EFC cost of attendance would be loans and how much would be grants/scholarships?</p>

<p>It’s very close most of the time, and you’ll probably have the vast majority be grants with some loans.</p>

<p>reiterating arbiter, NU FAO actually pointed me to that site, and in fact it is on NU’s own FAwebsite, so NU endorses the results cb gives. other cc members told me that it is very close from their exp.</p>

<p>NU FAO told me figure about 80/20 grants and loans for the FA pkg (of non EFC), which is roughly what cb reports (which is from the c d s of NU )</p>

<p>there is supposed to be a limit on the amt of the loans (apparently only certain loans) over the 4 yr period - to 20k. call the FA office for more details.</p>
