had anybody done summer shcool b4? what's it like? what do you bring?

You mean..like....books, paper, and pens?

Whatever you would bring for the academic year.

Don't forget sandals for use in the shower.

A grand piano for your dorm room. A few hundred ping pong balls. A sense of humor and some sunscreen.

Cal is a very casual school. The weather is mild to warm during the day and cool/breezy in the evening.

Though the following guide is geared more toward regular students than summer school students, the online (also available in hardcopy) Cal Resource provides valuable info about almost everything.

Tips on what to bring for living on campus during the regular session

Wondering about what you need to bring to the residence halls? Each room is furnished with desks, beds, drawers, and shelf space. The rest is up to you. Here's a list of items that students have found useful to have. You don't need everything on this list! Evaluate your own specific needs before packing or purchasing. Check with your roommate(s) to see what they're bringing-you don't want to end up with three mini refrigerators!

Bath towels
Shower basket
Shower shoes/thongs
Combination lock for bathroom lockers
Extension cord/powerstrip
Alarm clock
Desk lamp
Mini dry-erase board
Bed sheets (twin extra long)
Hangers
Laundry basket
Detergent
Iron thumbtacks (for walls)
Telephone with answering
machine
Television
Stereo
Headphones
Computer
Printer
Mini refrigerator
Water filter/pitcher
Microwave
Ear plugs
Umbrella

You certainly don't need all of this for a 6-8 week summer session, and there are plenty of stores around Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco if you do need anything.
