What to bring to Andover?

Any special advice of what to bring to Andover? Is it really necessary to do all of that labeling of clothes, etc.? Please tell me there was no summer reading required for incoming 9th graders ...

All advice welcome. Thanks in advance!

Here’s a very extensive thread about what to pack:

If your child is doing his/her own laundry, there is no need to label clothes. If you are using E&R, labels are recommended. Here’s a resource for labels:

Should you choose to label socks, use a Sharpie (black for light colored, silver for dark-colored).

There are no assignments at Andover over breaks (winter, spring, summer). A bookcase is usually recommended, and a printer can be really helpful. Fans are good too - it can get warm in the rooms in Sept/May. Last year we brought a lamp after Thanksgiving break. Most of his clothes were labeled from summer camp, so it wasn’t too bad to label additional items.
