What to bring to Cornell?

Ok so this summer i'll be going overseas and will come back to leave for ithaca only for half a day, so i basically have to finish packing before i leave. so what are the things you need to bring to Cornell (assuming i won't be coming back during fall break)?

thanks!

I've heard that Ithaca's pretty cold in the winter, so you should keep that in mind when packing.

i think cornell publishes a list somewhere. it's pretty good.

if you will be taking any science classes, bring a non-graphing calculator!

Why a non-graphing calculator? What's wrong with graphing calculators?

I'm guessing that most engineering classes won't let you use a graphing calculator on tests, in which case, if you don't have a regular scientific, you're stuck.

what abt bio majors??? business? are graphing cal allowed there? also, r people allowed to use graphing cal for stats class, cal class? tests in stats class or cal? I've become so dependent on it in the past few years.

p.s. what classes are graphing cal allowed? what classes aren't?

thanx

lol i second the calculator question....I too have become dependent on it!

basically, on every prelim or test i have taken, I have only been able to use a basic scientific calculator. You never get a calculator for math classes, at least in my experience and others. You can use whatever calculator you want for doing your homework, but for tests, be prepared to use a simple scientific one, or non at all.
i guess they think that you can store information in there...or in math classes, have the calculator do the problems for you. I do love my ti-89, and took Multivariable and linear algebra in high school using it (and becoming dependent on it) But when I took those classes again at cornell, no calculators were allowed at all. And trust me, doing triple integrals and row reducing matrices by hand is no fun, but you have to do it.

Guys, believe me, surviving without a graphical calc is not that bad!!! I've never used one... Actually, my high school math teacher wouldn't allow us to use ANY... she'd scream only at the sight of one.. hahah. I guess that helped most of us understand in a better way math...
