I'm going to be dorming in Marks tower, and I was wondering what I should bring. It would also help if someone could tell me what's available at the dorm.

Have you received the large handout about moving in from USC? This brochure will answer many of your questions and have a check list of things to bring and things to leave at home. I can’t remember when this gets sent–probably closer to move-in date.

In addition, you can take a virtual tour of a room in Marks Tower online:

[USC Housing Option - Buildings - Marks Tower](http://housing.usc.edu/HousingOptions/Buildings.aspx?bID=DMT)

Most dorm rooms will have a desk, chair, bed (which can be lofted to fit dresser and other stuff under it), dresser (3 drawers, I think) for each person. There will also be a minifridge/microwave combo unit to share.

Thanks that helps to know what’s going to be available. I did receive the package. I just haven’t read it carefully. I should do that.

Each room also comes with a trash can.

Here are 2 general lists: [College Checklist - Bed Bath & Beyond](http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/BTC_checklist.asp?) and http://tgtfiles.target.com/btc_0912/CollegeChecklist.pdf

Of course you won’t need everything on the list but it may help remind you of some things you might commonly forget to bring.

Camomof3,

You mention that the beds can be lofted to put a dresser underneath. Can you give some more details about how this is done? I have an incoming USC student who will be living in Marks Tower and would love to know the magic. Thanks.

^The beds are designed to do this and you should be able to adjust them (with a partner) without tools. Sometimes they get stuck (years of use) and you can ask maintenance to come and do it (they are around during move-in).

And by lofting, I mean about 3-4 feet off the ground-- just enough for dresser to fit, not enough for couch.

The beds have 3 levels (I think 3, its been awhile) and you literally just pull it apart and insert the metal frame into the next level. Also, for other people who may read this, in some buildings, you can put the dresser inside the closet.

Definitely read the checklist USC sent us a few days ago (it comes in a big package). Also google dorm supplies. There are some great youtube videos talking about this topic too! Good luck! :)

Hi zillek,
Remember to bring fans because it will be HOT! :)

We just bought S. fan upon arriving at USC, so we didn’t have to lug and risk having duplicates with room mate.

We went to three stores on move-in day before we found a fan in stock.
