What to bring to interview?

I have my first interview in 1.5 weeks at Brandeis. What exactly do I bring? One of my teachers suggested a resume. Should I bring that and if so, how are they generally set up? Also, I have not submitted my application yet, I'm applying RD, so they do not have my grades. Should I bring an unofficial transcript with me?

Finally, what is the appropriate clothing to wear? I don't want to appear too stuffy/formal or too laid back!

thankss :)

All of my friends who have already gone through the college admissions process tell me not to bring anything to the interview. Basically, just show up ready to have a conversation with your interviewer. Don't be nervous, the interviewer's a nice person who just wants to find out more about you. In your case, since you haven't submitted you applciation, I would assume that there will be a generic set of questions that you'll be asked. Just relax and give the best responses you can.

As for the dress.
For guys I'd probably wear some pants and a polo (tucked in of course).
I'm a guy so i can't really say for girls. Maybe a semi-formal dress?

Good luck!

It really depends. One interviewer asked me to bring a list of questions and a resume. Another didn't ask me to bring anything. As for dressing, don't out all out with business professional. Maybe business casual like khakis and a nice shirt.

haha, i was actually told the opposite!
my guidance gave me a list of dos and donts for college interview, and she reccomended me in brining in my resume and anything that would make me stand out
she also told me to dress REALLY nicely... 0_0 ... but that was kind of vague... but i got freaked out and went out and bought a suit anyways :P

don't dress up in a suit. it's called overdressing.

Do not really need to bring anything. Typically, the person conducting the interview has a plan often given by the school (i.e., specific questions).

How you dress can also be determined by where you are meeting. One of my interviews was with a state legislator, but it was at Starbucks so I wore (and I'm a girl ps haha) some skinny cordoruys with heels, and my shirt was a nice button up with a cami underneath. So not all out dressy, but very nice.

For readers who can't imagine themselves or a peer arriving at a college interview dressing inappropriately, you are mistaken. Ladies: do not dress in anything provocative. If you can't sit down and chat with your rabbi/imam/minister wearing what you're wearing, put it back in the closet (e.g. cleavage showing, too short skirts, etc.). For guys, their range of grace just happens to be broader-- they can't screw up so easily.
