My son, a junior, is taking the SAT for the first time tomorrow. I know he needs pencils and a calculator, and of course his admission ticket and ID, but is there anything else he needs? I know he can’t use a calculator for some of the math problems, so should he have blank papers for scratch?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
No - he should only use the test booklet for scratch paper.
A simple watch with no alarm is allowed. I got one for a D at WalMart for under $10.
He doesn’t need these, but I recommend extra batteries for the calculator. For comfort, bring a snack or two, a drink, two pain reliever tablets, and a jacket or sweatshirt.
A few years ago when S1 was just starting to take one of his exams, can’t remember whether it was SAT or ACT, the batteries in his calculator went dead. Even though we thought it was probably unnecessary, he had brought a baggie of spare batteries and was able to put them in quickly. So you are right, @LuckyCharms913.
Bring a protein bar… It’s a long three+ hours.
Thanks, I packed him a snack, and since we didn’t have batteries, he packed an extra calculator.
