Okay, so I know that you should bring your resume but what else? Do they want a copy of your transcript?
I actually still am not for sure of all the colleges I am applying to. I am applying to a lot of colleges (more than 15).
Since time is running short, I have to ask my teacher to write me a rec this week.
Can I just tell her that I will give her a list of the colleges that require a letter and give her all the forms in a couple weeks from now?
Look at your school website. If it’s anything like mine, under the counseling section, in the college apps section, it may have instructions or a form to fill out.
Yes it does a form, I was asking if it would be okay if I bring the forms in a couple of weeks from now since I am still not sure if I will be applying to the specific school.
Didn’t you say elsewhere that stuff was due Jan 1??
That means she’ll have to mail it before school lets out for Christmas.
And-- bad news: this is the busiest time of the year not just for high school seniors, but for EVERYONE. The odds are good that she’s pretty swamped, as is everyone I know, as she prepares her family for Christmas.
I wrote all my letters for the current senior class over the summer. My son was late on his and got his done in October.
It’s now the end of November. PLEASE don’t delay any longer. Not only is it unfair to a teacher who IS doing you a favor, but it also increases the odds that she’ll be unable to meet the deadline you leave her with . That leaves you with, at best a thrown together letter, and at worst with no letter at all.
My question is that if I end up deciding to change or add colleges can I tell her in a couple of weeks? Because I am not sure of which colleges I will be applying to yet. Do I have to know now?
Also is it hassle for the teacher to send 15 LORs if I am applying to a lot of colleges?
In my school, letters are uploaded onto Naviance. From there on, the college placement office handles it; I have no way of knowing which schools got my letters.
Things are done differently from one school to the next. The people you want to ask are in the guidance office of your school.
But, again, each school does it differently. If your teacher needs more than that from you, she’ll be sure to let you know. This isn’t her first letter, and she’ll know the system.
So today my teacher asked me what my class rank and GPA(weighted and UW) is since it was not on my resume.
Not sure why she asked or whether or not she will put it into my LOR.
Anyways, do I just give her what it says on my HS transcript or the one I will give to colleges? My school does not weight honors courses(only AP) so the GPA I give to colleges will be higher since I’ve taken 12 honors courses in HS. Plus first semester has not ended yet so I am not sure what my exact GPA will be by the time first semester ends. It could be lower so I don’t want colleges to think I lied to my teacher about my GPA if she does list my current GPA. With 4 APs this year my weighted GPA might be higher but UW I am pretty sure will drop a little.
My transcript list my GPA as a 3.86900, do I round up to 3.87 or do I list the whole thing?
