What to bring

Hey guys - in order to pack for college what do you really need? I've heard things like microwaves and blenders and comforters and can openers and vacuums but it takes up so mu room D:
Any lists or suggestions?

Pack what you think you’ll need. Some things are obvious (bedding, clothes, toiletries, computers/chargers, school supplies, etc.), others you might want to hold off on. Anything big (mini-fridge, tv, couch) you should probably coordinate with your roommate first if you were thinking of bringing something, especially since dorm rooms tend to be pretty small.

Remember that you can also go out and buy stuff once you’re there, if you’ve forgotten anything.

Otherwise there’s a gazillion lists online, I’d suggest taking a look at those. As a general rule, if it’s not something you’d normally use, you probably won’t need it in your dorm.

What you would bring also depends on the type of dorm your moving into. If you’re moving into a regular dorm with a roommate and no stove/oven, then its simpler and you really just need the basic bedroom/bathroom amenities, where as some school have apartment style dorms and then there’s of course a lot more to consider. Try not to bring too much with you as you don’t want to cramp you and your roommate because dorms really aren’t all that big, but do remember a laundry basic! My roommate I accidentally forgot them last year and then we had to go buy them together and had that much less money for fun things >.<

make sure you coordinate with your roommate. you should buy general things such as power strips, soap, shampoo, shower caddy, clothes, organizers. Drawers, decorations, schools supplies. The most important thing is a mattress pad. Dorm beds are super uncomfortable. By the way, no matter how much you prepare, you will probably run to the store again once you get to college. Good luck!
