What to bring....

As for INDOC photos...the class of 2008 was documented by a full time USMMA staffer (much of it on his own time). I understand that he left prior to the 2009 class reporting and was not replaced. Several Seniors (2006) attempted to pick up the slack by taking and publishing photos, but because of their own licensing preparations and other commitments they were unable to continue. The Colorado parent's club site picked up the slack and offered some great pics and insights. This can be a life saver for anxious parents, even though you have to examine each photo carefully in the hopes of picking out your kid. (after the haircuts and with all in the same caps and outfits they tend to look alike). We actually visited the campus a day early (before indoc) to get pics of our son as a 'civilian' around various campus venues. It made for some great memories.

Can the plebes bring underarmour underpants ,white with black lettering around the waistband?

yeah that's fine

can we bring more then the number of things they say for example more socks n underwear?!

Good idea on the socks and underwear, but that's it on the clothing front. You can never have too many clean socks!

can you bring white boxers or do they have to be the uncomfortable type?

no one cares what underwear you wear. bring what you like

actually, just bring a couple g-strings and you should be set

"For Plebe Parents--Useful Things to Know" says "They will need a graphing calculator--the school standard is TI-86."
I'm wondering about the TI-89. It seems to do a little more, especially in calculus. Is this allowed, discouraged, prohibited or what?

"Logging In" says males are to bring one comfortable pair of street shoes (females one comfortable pair of low-heel street shoes). What does "street shoes" mean? What are these street shoes used for and when? Should these be leather, dressier shoes or more comfortable, running shoes?

Not sure any of the Mids are around to answer your question due to exams so I'll pipe in here. It does not matter which calculator. Both will get the job done. Last year, we asked the same question and a couple of Mids told my kid just to bring the 86 model but that the 89 was allowed as well. Its your preference.

Mothermary, I would highly suggest a few pair of underarmor. My Mid didn't have them for Indoc and that first phone call, he pleaded I send some. They run so much in that heat & the rashes are so painful while they're trying to heal. The boxers and underarmor need to be solid white (other than the waist band lettering thing). The summer whites are very thin & all underwear show through. The guys seem to like the boxers much much better.

Running shoes. That way you'll have two pair. The ones you wear in & the ones they issue to you.

Thank you, Janzmom. What are the safety pins used for? Is it better to bring large safety pins or smaller?

Heck if I know. LOL But I know he uses them. I sent an assortment pack that was included in a travel sewing kit. Yep, you will be doing some sewing.... They make you tack your pockets shut. They provide the sewing kits to do this so don't worry about that part. The safety pins are used for various uniform issues I would guess. Truly, I have no idea. But pack an assortment of sizes. And don't freak about the sewing thing. :P

You use the safety pins for various uniform details or when duct tape doesn't work, ie. making sheets taut. Don't freak. It's part of the fun of being a plebe. :)

get the 89 titanium, makes calculus so much easier...

they allow you to have that calculator?

effin a they allow that calculator. I don't have one and wish I did. I didn't get one because the school told me to buy the freakin' TI86. My physics teacher told me that there may be a regulation somewhere down the road about not being able to use the 89 but for right now it's all good. If you have the cash, get it and learn to use it before you get here

yeha i have the ti89 from pre calc and is BY FAR a better calculator. if you know how to use it you don't have to do anything. it does so much for you

LeadinUSMC, what are the lighter, extra clear nail polish, and a picture frame or two used for?
