which ever works better for you?

I do both.

What exactly do people use duct tape for? I believe it's amazing but just haven't ran into a situation where it's absolutely necessary I guess... but I'd like to know.

only time i've used duct tape in college is to tape my tv cable to the floor. and i agree with hackcollege..when it was time to move out, the cable was disgustingly sticky and basically couldn't remove the duct tape.

duct tape is gold during Halloween.

Get "gumout" (GUMOUT) at your local auto shop. That stuff will take out duct tape goo like NOTHING. Melts that stuff like molten chocolate lava.

Heres what I've seen people use it for:

repairing sandals, 3 diff occasions, 3 diff people, one was my math3c TA, hahahaha.

Temporarily fixing a broken bunk rail.

Temporarily holding a window screen in place.

Pasties.. electric tape works better IMO.. less painful.

Halloween costumes, costumes to the "anything but clothes" parties.

Patch up a whole in a backpack

Used to spell stuff and vandalize. LOL

The microfridge rentals are a total ripoff. Is there a site where we can rent just a normal mini fridge? Thanks.

Might be cheaper to buy a mini fridge than rent. Mini 4.3 Cu. Ft. fridge at Target- $179.99. Best Buy has a 3.0 Cu. Ft. for $134.99. Check around for the size you want and prices.

^ only if you want just the fridge. and even if you get a standalone mini fridge, and a microwave, you have to go around hiding the microwave... so if you want both, just rent the microfridge? it also comes with a freezer, which many minifridges don't.

well you don't really have to "hide" the microwave, just put a towel over it and they can't do squat about it... my roommate did that with his halogen lamp during room check, he just put a hat over the top of the lamp, the RA asked about it and we are like "umm its a hat holder" :)

Hmm ok, so as for the notebooks, how many spiral notebooks/binders do you recommend bringing (for 3 classes)? Assuming I'm a moderate note-taker lol. Do you just bring the notebooks to class and then put work, etc in binders?

I know this is a totally subjective question, but how much clothes should we bring? The closets don't seem that big. Would 7 shirts and 5 pairs of pants be enough? Plus like 3 jackets and pajamas.

LOL sorry, it's a dumb question but I'm worried about over-packing. I want to leave enough room for everything else like school supplies, shower and laundry stuff.

^ i'd say bringing that few clothes means you're committing to doing laundry once a week. most people don't like to do laundry that much...

One notebook for each south campus class. For north campus classes or classes where you print lecture notes out, I like using those portfolios with the three binder clips inside.

That sounds pretty low. Think of it as doing laundry every two weeks. So how much will you need to wear in two weeks? Plus, if you're going home for Thanksgiving, you can leave heavy outerwear at home for now.

I brought about 2.5 weeks of clothes last year and it was fine. The closets can actually fit a lot of stuff.

Ok- so don't have to limit the number of clothes I bring THAT much. But I like halogen lamps a lot better than fluorescent ones :( I've used a halogen lamp all throughout middle and high school.

That's the one residential rule I'll try to break I guess...

No big deal. Throw it under the bed during inspection week when you leave the room.
