What to bring?

Maybe if we make a master list, we won't forget anything! Current Yalies - anything you didn't think of and wish you had, when you were freshmen?

I realize this is incredibly early, but I live on the west coast and thus some planning is in order. Especially since I'm away about 95% of the summer... so...

Oh my...I probably won't plan anything until August...:p

There's a wal-mart a couple minutes from campus by car. Read: get your parents to take you there and spend all their money while you still can!! You don't really want to stuff your bag with extra weight that you can just pick up in CT, what with all the airline restrictions and all that. From home, I would just focus on bringing clothes and other stuff that you can't purchase, stuff that you already own (books, guitars, DVD's, CD's, laptop, posters, etc)

Stuff to buy:
- hangers
- hampers (the foldy kind)
- a small fan
- cleaning stuff (vacuum, broom, fabreeze--all splittable b/t suitemates)
- coat (I'm from Texas.. didn't have a real winter coat)
- desk lamp
- laundry stuff

um.. that's all I can think of right now. You'll be surprised how much stuff you won't need once you start living on campus.
