What to do about highschool schedule?

Im a senior in AP Calculus and on my schedule I have a new/shy teacher who s easy. However, there is a better calc teacher at my school who i already know from precalc. He gives more work and harder tests but has a higher passing rate. Should I leave my teacher or switch?

I don’t think I can definitely say if you should switch or not, but I will try and help. Now I don’t know much about your school or how the teachers are etc., but what I do know from my experiences is that generally new teachers (like if it is their first time teaching the class, which is how it comes off to me) don’t do the best job of teaching the subject.Though the one question I think you should ask yourself is whether or not the teacher has a good track record or not. At my school, one of our math teachers had an incredibly good record for BC Calc (he was the only one for a while, but last year we had another teacher teach the AB class). Out of the 7 that took the BC Calc exam, only 1 did not get a 5 on the exam, but in the other teachers class I don’t think any of his students got a 5. Anyways, if you have a similar situation you might want to switch (esp. if you want a STEM career). But if your teacher doesn’t have a good track record for teaching AP Calc, then it may not make a difference but I can’t really say. Sorry for the long response.

Thanks for responding! That teacher does have a higher passing rate and I have informed my school that I want to change. They said it’s hard because he doesn’t teach during my math period so they’ll have to swap out my classes. The scheduling person said they’ll try but can’t make promises, so I don’t think it’ll happen :frowning: Should I try anything else at this point?
