What to do after college?

I'm graduating in the fall of 2010 but i am not planning to apply that year because I want my last semester's grades to be seen by the admission officers. If so, i am going to have 1.5 half year before attending law school, assuming that im applying in the fall of 2011 and enroll in fall 2012. what should i do after college for that 1.5 year? i cant just study for the LSATs alone.

if i just study for the lsats during that time, would that look bad?

It probably would, but it would not matter too much. Your GPA and LSAT are the most important part of your application. It would be hard to find a job in this economy, so I don’t even think you would have to work very hard to explain why you weren’t working. Lots of grads aren’t working

I’m going to disagree here. I think doing nothing for an entire year and a half really would be a problem. Jobs are hard to find, but they’re not impossible if you’re flexible: waiting tables, working retail, etc.

would working for my uncle’s company help? its a small corporation with about 7 workers specializing in chemical dye stuff. but i think i can get experience in the administrative part of the company

Yup, I’d think that’d do it.

ANYTHING > Nothing.

I don’t understand why you’d have to wait until fall 2011 to apply. If your last semester is fall of 2010, why not wait for those grades to come in that winter and then apply during the first few months of 2011? If accepted to a suitable school, you could start in the fall of 2011.

Because it’s better to apply early from what im hearing. Im planning to apply in october and applying in jan or feb seems too late

I’d be bored out of my mind if I did nothing for a year and half except prepare an application. If you can really afford to do nothing, you should consider doing something interesting. Travel. Volunteer. Learn a trade. At the very least, keep your mind engaged in something intellectual. Going back to school is difficult if you don’t do anything to feed the mind in the interim.
