OK, so I was right about a masters.

Thank god I’m already licensed. Those new rules are pretty ridiculous. Students are already having a hard enough time looking for jobs and now the CBA wants to put kids into more debt by having them stay in school longer rather than having them go out and get some real world experience.

On the up side, it appears that the general business category is pretty broad and a lot of the classes that are required can be taken at a community college (but not all of them). You may have to take an extension program for the upper level accounting units (e.g., UCLA extension) which will cost a bit more. And based on slide 11, it doesn’t appear that a MAAc is a end-all solution to meeting the requirements. You still need 10 units of ethics. Do we really need 10 WHOLE units of just freaking ethics? Just add 20 hours of additional ethics CPE to new licensees and be done with it. Great thinking CBA!

Yeah the new rules are a pain. I’ll try to get licensed before Jan. 1, 2014.
