What to do after you get deferred?

I was deferred from University of San Diego and I'm not quite sure what I should do. I could:

a) call the admissions office and ask them what would increase my chances of being accepted

b)go with the flow, have the midyear report sent out and wait

c)send the midyear report AND some more letters of recommendation (if so, how many?)

d)your own option:

Please give me your input, I really need some advice. Thank you! :)

this is what i did:
i called the admissions office and asked how many people were deferred last year and how many were eventually offered admission. then i wrote them a letter about how much i wanted to go to their school and why. i hope you get in!

I would go with what jenlib suggested and also option a. Actually jenlib's option sounds like an improved version of option a. You may be able to get them to give you some idea of where the weakness was. If you can have your GC call, they might be more candid with him/her.

Colleges treat ED differently. Some only take the auto-admits during the ED round, and then the defers have an advantage during RD because they have shown interest. Other colleges figure that they have have looked at you once already and so something major needs to happen for them to accept you during RD.

Keep it moving and have a plan B in the form of another school in the because at most schools a great number of deferred students are not accepted in the RD round.

thanks everyone! i'll talk to my GC on monday :)

any other advice?

I'd write them a heartfelt letter stating why you want to go there. Explain some weaknesses on your application and just reiterate your desire to attend the school. A recommendation or two wouldn't hurt. Good luck!

my big weaknesses are my SAT scores, i'll try to explain them though thanks!
