what to do during thanksgiving/christmas?

do you have to leave the residential halls? i am an international students and i'd have no where to go if we were to vacate the residential halls during these holidays (during the summer i can go back to my home country so that's no problem)

i don't think they make you vacate your rooms during the winter holidays.. im international too (from pakistan) so if dorms do close then i'll be screwed.. where are you from?

im from korea~

From what I understand (I'm international too, but closer-- Canada!) they don't close the dorms, but they do close the dining halls, so you just have to buy food off-campus.

That's right. The dorms don't close but the dining halls do. It sucks staying on campus, though, so you should really try to go home with a friend or visit relatives or something like that, especially for Christmas break will be about a month.

im not sure if its like this at nyu, but at other schools you have to pay to stay in the dorms during winter break. im not sure, but you might want to look into it.

Dorm's don't close, and you won't have to pay extra.

hey i was wondering about that too
i guess ill spend my first christmas there cauz the timesquare thing looks pretty cool.

christmas is cool at timesquare. just dont try and go there during news years b/c it's insanely packed.

I know that some schools turn off the heating and water during christmas in almost all teh dorms, except a few that are reserved for International Students. In a sense, some of them "kick" you out for christmas haha

Yeah, but NYU doesn't do that :-) They're good about that.

Almost everyone goes home during Christmas especially because finals are done right before. Most people from far away stay in the city or go home with friends during Thanksgiving but for those who stay, your building will put on a THanksgiving day program which will have food and stuff
