hey, I'm in first year engineering now, and i'm not going to make the gpa cut off for acceptance to the university next year. I'm a little upset cause now i need to find a new career path. any ideas?

I want to be able to get a job when i'm done my degree.
I was going for materials engineering.

do i keep applying every year?! no that doesnt make sense! lol

How are you first year but won’t be able to make it into the university? These two statements seem to contradict each other.

Do you mean that you are at a community college but your GPA is not high enough to successfully transfer to a four year university to complete a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering?

yes that is correct. I am at a community college and I applied for second year at the university but I will be just below the cut off line for gpa marks. sorry for the misunderstanding

Can you stay at CC for a second year and bring your grades up? Could you change to a business major? The curriculum might be a bit less difficult.

The only business majors that are useful at an undergraduate level are finance and accountancy, and neither of them are that much easier than engineering (and I am sure people would argue that, too).

haha yeah, I cant stay another year here at the college I ran out of first year courses. unless i redo some but i really dont want to. feel like i waisting my money.

The university also takes gpa point assessments for every class I de-do, for every extra course i have on top of my 1st year engineeing and for not carrying a full course load in the year prior to entering 2nd year engineering.

I have started thinking about geology or geophysics. for a while i was looking at petroleum engineering, looking for the oil and gas. so now i’m thinking of that again but going the science route.

so many options. i am driving to the city tomorrow to talk to an advisor at the university.
