What to do now...

Hey everyone,

I’ve completely finished the Naval Academy app. However, I have not yet recieved an offer of appointment or any other correspondance. I have:

Been medically qualified (my vision is worse than 20/40 so that puts me in a different pile)

Scholastically qualified

Recieved a nominaition

My question is: What do I do now?

Hurry up and wait. :) Have you checked the website? Talked to your Blue and Gold Officer? Just because you have a nomination doesn't mean you will automatically get an appointment. Some MsOC have 10 noms. for 1 space.

Good Luck!

Welcome to the worst part of the application process....waiting. It seriously drives me crazy and sometimes i feel like im going to have a nervous breakdown if nothing comes in the mail. But each day comes and goes...and im still here.

Best of luck. try to let it go and think about it as little as possible (i know thats hard...) Just remember there are hundreds like you for all the academies waiting...

Answer: wait!

If your nominations have been in for a while, you might not have been the best candidate (according to Admissions/MOC) in your district. Because you are QQQ'd, assuming you didn't get the #1 spot, you will be competing for appointments against any other applicant who is QQQ'd and did not get selected for a nomination/appointment AKA the "leftovers".

Good luck.

Ah, but do remember what they call the leftovers that get in--midshipmen! On the first day, it won't matter when you got that nice envelope...

If you need a vision waiver, how can you be QQQ?
Have you already been issued a waiver?

Are you physically qualified? Did you pass the CFA? You did not say.

Those with waivers generally are selected later in the process. Remember that the total offers of appointment for those needing waivers cannot exceed a "magic" number, something like 30-35% of the incoming class.
CM

How do you know if you passed the CFA? I still don't understand this.

no clue. if you failed im sure they would let you know...

They likely wouldn't tell you that you failed unless you were competitive (qualified...minimum WPM). They may not tell you until you go before the board. One thing is certain....If you failed and you are otherwise competitive, they will tell you eventually to improve and resubmit your CFA.

So basically...no news is good news. In the meantime...keep working on your score and resubmit. My son is doing that even though he was notified of an impending appointment. Don't Give Up the Ship!!!
