<p>I am an international student and freshman majoring in engineering. I want to do a research but there is little chance I will get one for the coming summer. I looked at places outside my school and all of them require US citizenship. </p>

<p>I can't take classes or travel b/c I do not have money. My scholarship is only limited to fall/spring.</p>
<p>I do not want to just enjoy my time because I want to do something useful.</p>
<p>Just go and have some high jinx. Jeez, that's what summers are for!</p>
<p>If you cannot find a job or internship, then tutor or coach (to make money, if necessary) and find an organization to volunteer your time for. Non-profits are stretched pretty thin these days, someone will let you help them and that will be useful.</p>
