<p>So I just finished my first quarter of college and exams are finally over! So I'm now home for winter break. I plan to take a few days off through this weekend...but I was trying to think of this I can do this break because its going to last nearly a month. I was considering briefly studying up on the courses that I am taking next quarter but should I be looking for internships this summer or something (just a freshman, so do people do them?) or maybe a job for the summer? I am also considering a transfer so I guess I could look further into that too..</p>
<p>Sounds like a good plan, I plan on reading material ahead as well and looking for a summer job. Alternatively you could just take the break and take a well deserved relaxation.</p>
<p>Starting reading up on next quarter’s classes sounds like a good idea. I might do that…</p>
<p>I’m going to go visit my high school during the first week I’m back, see my teachers and friends still in HS. Also, I’m getting together with some friends who go to other schools, since I haven’t seen them since graduation. That’s actually the only part of winter break I’m looking forward to. Home is…stressful. It’s going to be a long four weeks.</p>
<p>You could get a head start on looking for internships. Winter break is a great time to plan for the future. Also, there might even be stores still hiring for seasonal employees if you want to work.</p>
<p>A word from the lazy people - I just like being with home comforts.
Particularly for Christmas break, and even more so because home is 3000 miles away in England and I haven’t seen my homeland in 3 months.

<p>I understand the looking for jobs/internships, but starting up on reading? isn’t that a little premature? you’ll probably forget it all by the time you are tested.</p>
<p>I plan on using the break as a well deserved vacation, along with a little internship hunting as well.</p>
<p>That’s a good question. I just need these four weeks to pass quickly so I can get back to the amazing people I’m leaving behind here. D:</p>
<p>I love my home and family and pets and stuff but I really want to stay here actually.</p>
<p>I will be playing Skyrim, reading finance and accounting material for interviews, networking, and start preparing for the GMAT.</p>
<p>I’m planning on going back over French grammar and pronunctiation. I have a French writing class next semester and a French speaking/listening class. The more prepared I go into those the better.</p>
<p>I’ll probably also read a bunch of plays and try finding monologues that I actually like and want to work on.</p>
<p>And I want to learn how to sew again. I’m hoping to work in the costume shop next semester.</p>
<p>I plan to:
-Finish up my grad school applications
-Work on some of the data analysis for my thesis
-Write a one-act play with my brother for a competition
-Start reading ahead for classes and reviewing where necessary
-Catch up on sleep
-Finally get a chance to finish Pokemon White</p>
<p>Oh, and I also have jury duty on January 3rd…</p>
<p>In my experience, preparing adequately for next semester’s class gives a strong academic advantage that lasts all semester. I try in the summer/winter breaks to know the first 3-4 weeks of material, and it’s helped me.</p>

<p>I’m going to enjoy my family who’s coming from California and Georgia. Can’t waitttt. :D</p>
<p>Oh, I’m also taking a Wintersession class at a local branch and getting my wisdom teeth removed. -___- Hopefully, I can squeeze in reading a book or two and catching up on TV somewhere in there.</p>

I’m going to get sucked into nextflix instant play, drink tea, sleep, eat, drink some more tea and eat a bunch more, and oh - sleep. Catch up with old friends and do absolutely nothing school or career related.
Winter break is the one time of year I get off with nothing attached - I take advantage of being lazy to the max haha, 2 weeks of absolute stress free life.</p>
<p>Wait, you only get 2 weeks off? I thought a month off was standard at universities… o.O</p>
<p>^Ugh our school was really stupid this year and changed our winter break so we get out the 14th and go back the 4th of January. So, it’s technically 3 weeks (I just go home for 2 of them), but still short. Our spring 2012 finals will be over the last week of April. But they already changed it back for years to come because people were mad, but only until January 7th.</p>
<p>Ah, we got out today and we go back on January 9th. We do start in August, though, and our spring finals are the first week of May.</p>
<p>I was done yesterday and classes start again on January 4th. </p>
<p>Christmas break: piano and clarinet practicing (a list of stuff I have to have mostly prepared by the time I come back, I’m a music major- I have 2 concertos, some technique stuff, and 1 etude to work on for clarinet, and 4 pieces to mostly learn and memorize for piano plus some technique stuff too), plan out schedule/degree plan now that I know more what I’m taking over the next few years, organize binders/notes/textbooks that I’m keeping, learn to use Finale for a class next semester, doctor appointments, going to some concerts, family stuff, visit high school, visit previous piano teacher and play my piano jury pieces for her from this semester, go shopping, talk to some old friends from high school, and a few other things</p>
