What to do Summer 2011

I'm a junior this year and without further delay I'm trying to figure out what i should do next summer. Can anyone help me decide what would be best?

Option 1:
Work as a cashier for around 40hrs/week.

Option 2:
Intern at a hospital for around 15hrs/week
I'm doing this during this school year.

Option 3:
Take 1-3 college classes at my local state university.
Most likely Statistics and Probability, Anatomy and Physiology, or Epidemiology.

Option 4:
Go visit family in the homeland.
This is what I've done for the past 16 summers of my life and it is likely what my parents are doing this summer.

I don't want to sound like a student who does things solely for college, but in a time of competitive admissions, what would look best to the holy adcoms?

Really all of these sound like viable options to me. Also, if possible, how could i combine these activities into the summer?

Maybe you can combine some of these things. Like you can go to your homeland and when you’re there you can volunteer/intern/get a job. Or if you aren’t going for the whole summer you can take one class and then go to your homeland.

Hibernation anyone?

I would combine options 2 and 3 and do that.

Do what you’d genuinely enjoy. Whatever you do, do NOT do it solely to impress adcoms. Trust me, you won’t be the only kid who took college classes/interned over the summer.

^ I agree. Just do what you enjoy, and if you looked back to your summer of '11, something you would be able to smile at.

I’d scratch Opt. 1 unless you need the cash, Opt. 2 doesn’t sound too good since you’re already doing it and Opt. 4 is something you’ve done quite a bit. I’d go Opt. 3 and enjoy the rest of summer.
