PSedirsh- sorry if i butchered that name, but i heard you're good at these:

I am a freshman at the University of Notre Dame. Classes are tough as hell here. I finished first semester with a 3.31 GPA. I know I can do better than that in the long run. I was wondering however, what effect will it have on getting into med school that I went to Notre Dame. Also, my grandfather and uncle graduated from Loyola Medical School in Chicago, but they went to Illinois College and Loyola University, respectively, for their undergrad work. I am great family friends with a few current doctors. I was wondering how all of these components will effect my hopeful acceptance into med school. Let's say I finish with a 3.4-3.5 GPA at ND and an Average to Good MCAT score. Do I have a chance to get into Loyola medical school. What other schools around Chicagoland (2-3 hours around, but preferably driving distance around Chicago for commuting.), do I have a chance at getting into. Also, I am going to major in the College of Arts and Letters, and I am trying to choose a major from that. I was thinking Economics because I would like to have some business background. Would this be too difficult of a courseload considering this is Notre Dame. What other majors in Arts and Letters would be good for Medical School? Thanks.
