What to do when classmates bug you about test scores?

I hate the idea of competing with my classmates. I really do.

So when they ask me about my scores, I never know what to tell them. I don't want to share my scores with the ultra-competitive kids because I hate being swept into their competitive frenzy.

If I did better, they'll make "jokes" (thinly-veiled threats) to me. If I did poorly, they'll gloat and bask in their pride - which I don't mind at all, compared to the former.

Don't get me wrong; I'm fine with telling my friends my scores because I trust them and we aren't competitive. But the minute some of my cutthroat competitive classmates find out my scores (e.g. SAT, setting the curve on a midterm), I find myself in a lot of hatred.

Anyone have any tips for these situations?

Since when did what other ppl think matter? If they ask, tell them. If they don’t, then don’t tell them. Simple answer

Both parties need to get over it. There’s competition everywhere in life so get used to it. I know it sounds harsh, but you’re going to encounter people from both ends of the spectrum so it all comes down to what you decide to do.

Do what I do. Allow your test grade to be visible so those nosy idiots can look at your grade. Shrug if they make ‘joke-threats’ and roll your eyes if they gloat.

Eh, they only torture you like this because you’re secretive. I proudly yell my grade to the world (good or bad, though usually it’s the former) and it works.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. The minute you tell someone your test scores, ranking, etc., everyone knows about it, and it’s like you wear that number on your forehead.

When it comes down to it, it’s your information, and you don’t have to tell anyone if you don’t want to. It might bug your classmates, but it’s really none of their business, and if you don’t want to share it, then don’t. Keep them guessing.
Or keep it vague…(ex. “I got an A”)
