I’m in the process of committing to a college and I’m just wondering: Do you have to contact the schools you didn’t choose to let them know or withdraw your application or do anything like that?
You can as a courtesy, but it’s not required. From years of experience, schools know what to expect.
You don’t have to withdraw your application, but if you know you’re definitely not going somewhere, choosing to withdraw would allow someone on the waitlist to be accepted
You should let them know by May 1. Good manners never hurt. Sometimes a student might want to change their mind or transfer there in a future year. You can just email admissions if they didn’t give you something in the portal or snail mail.
