So i got a D in my U.S. government class for the 1st semester of my senior year. I consulted my counselors about this but they said with a D, i can graduate but colleges just won't accept me. This being said, community college is the only option. She said if i wanted to make up the credit i need to get an F in order to take night school and whatnot. I don't know what i'm supposed to do, im thinking of asking my teacher to lower my D to an F so i can at least make up the credits. US government is a required course apparently, and i already have completed 2 years of history (1 year US history, 1 year European history). I only applied to a several Cal States and already got one acceptance letter from one of them (CSU Fullerton). Will they reject me because i got a D in gov? What can I do? I don't know how i can make up the credit if my school won't let me without an F.

Contact CSUF for guidance. Good luck.

Agree about contacting CSUF to see what you can do to make up the grade. And quickly.

Here is what the central CSU site says
And you should find out more about the “can’t repeat a D” rule; maybe your counselor is mistaken. You really need to get your parents involved here. They start with the counselor and call the principal next. Then the district superintendent. Don’t try to do this on your own, your counselor’s answers have already shown he/she is a clown and can’t be relied on for useful advice. They can push around kids, but a determined parent can get things done.

Definitely contact the CSUF people. I know people who’ve been accepted to schools but got D’s and their acceptances were rescinded almost immediately (I don’t think they called or anything…) so be extra careful and just call them about it!
good luck!

just tell them your situation and they’ll help you out. it’s most likely not going to hurt your admissions to the CSU’s.
