What to do with my low GPA?

Hello guys, I am studying chemical engineering here in Texas. I have been screwing my gpa since last semester. This semester is going to be the same (horrible) I got some A’s but also some D’s. I don’t know what to do. I have been practicing and studying but nothing is working out as I expected. I am in Junior year, sadly I am over 90 hours credit at this point I don’t think any school will accept me with the hours I have and the GPA (2.9 with the possibility of dropping to 2.8). Any advice?

Thanks

Retake the classes you got a D in. Form study groups. Go to office hours. Find a tutor.

If you’re dealing with some non-academic issues, you could see if you can take a semester off and come back. (I don’t know what your school’s policy is.) Also, I’m guessing they have counseling available at your school.

If it’s any help, most of the engineers I know have graduated with around a 3.0 GPA and had no trouble finding a job after. You could also visit your school’s career center if you’re worried about job prospects.

  1. Schedule physical check up
  2. Schedule mental health session & learning disability consultation
  3. Evaluate sleep, nutrition & work out
  4. Meet academic advisor
  5. Find a supportive study group
  6. Take advantage of office hours
  7. Find a professor or TA to be your mentor
  8. Retake some courses if possible
  9. On weekend go to a fun activity group, local non profit or part time job to take your mind off of school
  10. Meditate or pray before sleep for few minutes
