S's enrollment is today, but before he is allowed to register for spring 2012, all the sections of Math-K310 are full and he is on the waiting list of number 23. He had M119, but not M118, so he is not allowed to register for Econ-E370 which still has spaces available. Without Math K310 or its equivalent, he will not be able to take honors i-core at fall 2010, Does this means that he will be removed for Business honors program? What are the chances for him to get into that class if he is NO. 23 on the waiting list? Any advices on what he needs to do? Please help!!

Yikes. This is where the business honors advisors come in. They are able to get students into the classes that they need in order to do honors ICore in the fall. They will have to “work their magic”. Your son needs to email his advisor immediately. He can’t be removed from business honors over this.

So your son will just now be taking M118 in Spring 2012? And honors icore in Fall 2012 [you typed Fall 2010]? He should have got M118 out of the way long ago.

If he is taking M118 this Spring at IUB, I would find a back-up plan for taking it during the summer if he needs to, just in case he has to drop it this Spring or doesn’t get the minimum C required for it to count as an Icore prerequisite. It is not unheard of for business honors students and students who are good at math to have trouble with this quirky class.

Is he wanting to take M118 and K310 the same semester, this coming Spring?

He wants to take Math-K310 in the spring 2012, and is going to take M118 next summer at local cc, so then he can take honors i-core in fall 2012. He was not able to take M118 last summer because at that time the transfer service showed that there is no transferable equivalent from our local cc, but I check again, and it is accepted as M118 at iu now. so there will be no problem with M118.

Do you know any other courses can be used to substitute for Econ-E370 in IU? Can Stat-K310 do that? Thanks!

Here is a list of substitutions for Kelley for ECON-E 370, Statistical Analysis for Business and Economics, according to this list published in the summer:
[Course Requirements: Majors, Minors & Certificates: New Students: University Division: Indiana University Bloomington](http://ud.iub.edu/new-students/majors-minors-cert/business/course-req.shtml)

MATH-K 310, Statistical Techniques (Prerequisite: MATH-M 119)
MATH-M 365, Introduction to Probability and Statistics (Prerequisite: MATH-M 212)
MATH-M 366, Elements of Statistical Inference (Prerequisite: MATH-M 360)
PSY-K 310, Statistical Techniques (Prerequisite: MATH-M 119)
STAT-S 320, Introduction to Statistics (Prerequisite: MATH-M 212 or 301 or 303)
STAT-S 301, Applied Statistical Methods for Business

All of these classes have waiting lists already.

I don’t know how much you can trust the list. The class PSY-K310 should possibly be listed as PSY-K300, as PSY-K310 is not even offered this Spring.

STAT-S 301, Applied Statistical Methods for Business looks like the easiest option, but it is taught in only one section and has a big wait list already. Maybe, like Marmala says, an honors advisor can get your son into this class.

What colleges does your son have available to him. Perhaps one of the substitutions listed above has an equivalent class at a college in your area. Then your son could take the equivalent for, say, PSY-P310 at your local college this summer and transfer the credit to IUB in time for honors icore. You could also check the Credit Transfer Service for the few universities Kelley will accept credit for E370 from other colleges.

Stat-S301 actually lists M-118 as a prerequisite in the “Class Search”. So probably Math-K310 is the best choice if he is able to get in.

We are in Chicago area, I will check to see if I can find the equivalent ones at the nearby colleges. Thanks for the links and advices.
