So I was accepted at UCLA for math of computation but also at Cal Poly SLO for electrical engineering... would that be stupid of me for going to SLO over UCLA's math program... any feedback would be great

No, it would not be stupid... Cal Poly SLO has a great engineering program and a high employment-out-of-graduation rate.

alright thanks for the reply... its just im almost down to flipping a coin, ;-) but i think im going to head to SLO next fall

if its really that close of a choice, pick the school that you would most enjoy attending. yes, SLO is great for EE, but if you dont think you would like it there, then pick something else.

It's not unheard of, as I've known a few people here that turned down UCLA and UCB. UCLA is an excellent all-around school. It has very good programs in science, engineering, and liberal arts. It also has great sports if you're a fan. That being said, cal poly has one of the best EE program in CA. If you graduate from here in EE, you won't have a problem finding a job. If you think you might switch majors into the liberal arts, you'd probably want to be at UCLA. The education at poly is excellent from my experience, but go with your instincts.

Why didn't you apply to UCLA for Electrical Engineering instead of Mathematics?
