What to do?

Im a freshman at UCSD and so far I hate it. There is nothing to do on campus and I dont have a car. However, I partly blame this situation on myself, because this is the first weekend Ive spent here on campus. So, I come here asking advise: what should I do? I surf and skate, how do I join the board club? Basically, I just want to party, because having no escape from this place is driving me crazy. Where can I find substances that will ease this problem?

On a side note, two of the three weekends so far Ive spent at UCLA. I just want to say something to the kids who chose UCSD over UCLA: you must be crazy! That school is so sick!

Edit- Also, what do YOU do with your free time?

Join the greek system.

play ultimate frisbee

I tried the greek thing. Not really feeling it right now. It was just a bunch of guys hell bent on getting laid, and I have a gf… maybe next quarter Ill be more desperate.

Ultimate sounds like it might be tight. I dont know about all that running though, I have achilles tendinitis.

meet ppl
trust me

Speaking of substances, my connect is back home in Los Angeles. It’s getting to the point where I may have to start growing my own… Also, pfft @ UCLA. Its the one thing I don’t miss back home…

you’re having trouble finding substances? are you kidding me?

No, I’m not. If I had an established base around the city, I wouldn’t be having a problem. Problem is, I don’t know what’s what @ ucsd.

Dude if this is the first weekend you’ve spent here… give it time and don’t jump to conclusions so quickly. I’ve had tons of fun here in these first couple weeks.

Yeah, UCSD is rather lame. Now you know.

But seriously I’m sick of hearing all these people with negative attitudes. You need to find the people who are willing to have fun and you’ll be set, at least that’s what I did and I think UCSD is awesome so far.

Yeah its all about making the initial connections with party ppl and the lists at the frats. I spent my time doing that the first weekend and welcoming week so Im set if I wanna party.

No offense but I dont think that may have been the brightest thing to spend the first weekends in LA when ppl here are getting acquainted with each other. Especially NOW since midterms are right around the corner. people are studying and taking it chill for midterms. I myself spent this whole weekend studying chem and math.

UCSD is definitely an acquired taste. You have to get involved or you’re gonna find yourself blaming the social life for not coming to you.

You just screwed yourself over a bit for that

A lot of people who seem to go home or just out of town on weekends in the beginning of the school year seems to have a hard time adjusting and situating themselves

If you’re so bent on having fun in college, you should have gone to a State school–don’t blame anyone else for your matriculating to an academic school.

^ a harsh but pretty much true way to put it lol
